Teicher: Page, Webb also given tender offers
|
Jarrad Page and Jeff Webb were also given tender offers, making them restricted free agents.
The level of these tenders offers is for now unslear, but the Chiefs
at a minimum would have the right to match any offer sheet these
players might sign. They could also be due compensation. source...

Chiefs make tender offer to former OCS, LSU center Rudy Niswanger
|
The Kansas CIty Chiefs made a tender offer of $1.5 million today to former Ouachita Christian and LSU offensive lineman Rudy Niswanger.Niswanger's agent, Monroe native Albert Elias, said the offer gives the Chiefs the right to match any offer Niswanger receives and a second-round draft pick if they decline to match. Elias said the offer is a sign of Kansas City's respect for Niswanger, who joined the Chiefs in 2006 as an undrafted free agent out of LSU but earned a starting job at center in 2008. full story... |

Where They Are Wednesdays: Julian Battle
|
Julian Battle, the 3rd round pick of the Chiefs' 2003 draft class out of Tennessee, missed numerous opportunities as a member of the chiefs. After being groomed his first two seasons, playing only sparingly behind starters Dexter McCleon and Eric Warfield, Battle tore his Achilles Tendon during training camp on June 20th, 2005 while fighting for a starting roster spot. This injury cost him the entire 2005-2006 NFL season, and ultimately led to his departure as a Kansas City Chief. Battle was released in August prior to the 2006-2007 season. After his release, the Washington Redskins took a chance on the CB after an injury caused starter Shawn Springs to miss six weeks. Battle's time on the team was short lived, however. He was released a month later on September 2, 2006. After his short-lived Redskins career, Battle joined the Calgary Stampeders in the Candian Football league but was released following the 2008 season. He is now a free agent. We're not a team in dissension. Some guy (Julian Battle) didn't want to get taped to the goal post. But it's a ritual on a guy's birthday. Somebody read the media guide wrong. It wasn't his birthday. But players were pouring cold water over him and he couldn't breathe. "Wouldn't you just know we'd get the birthday wrong.'' Fanhouse: Kansas City Chiefs: Can They Turns Things Around in '09?
|
Conventional
wisdom suggests that such turnarounds might take a couple seasons, but
after what the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins were able to
accomplish, expectations are almost certainly higher -- which means
that Kansas City could be just a few personnel moves from returning to
the playoffs. The issue, of course. is which personnel moves will give
Kansas City the best chance to make a postseason run in '09. source...

Fox Sport's Czarnecki Doesn't See Cassel going to Chiefs
|
|
"Here are the obvious teams in definite need of a quarterback:
Detroit, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, San Francisco and the New York Jets. I
could add teams like Chicago and Tennessee, because they are quality
teams who seem just a quarterback away from being in the Super Bowl,
but Cassel doesn't sound like a player the Bears and Titans will really
pursue. Going through this list, I have to figure that the Chiefs
won't make a deal with Belichick because new GM Scott Pioli doesn't
sound like a guy who is desperate to pay the price for a quarterback.
Also, I'm not sure Pioli is sold on Cassel as a future NFL star." full story...
