Teicher: Chiefs happy to finally get Bowe back
|
|
The last time he played for the Kansas City Chiefs before his
four-week NFL suspension, Dwayne Bowe had one of his best games of the
season, catching six passes in a win over the Raiders.
The
Chiefs welcomed Bowe back Monday and are eager to get him back in the
lineup for this weekend's game against Cleveland at Arrowhead Stadium.
They aren't necessarily expecting him to pick up where he left off.
"It's
unreasonable to expect him to come in and play as good or better as he
was before he left,'' wide receiver Bobby Wade said. "The hardest thing
about missing games during the season is the speed of the game. It's
going to be a challenge for him to play within his own realm and make
the plays that come to him, but he's capable of handling it. He's got
to let the game come to him and not stress about making a big play. He
just has to play solid."
Bowe
was suspended by the league for violating its policy on
performance-enhancing substances. He declined interview requests Monday. continue reading...

Rose: Honeymoon about over for Chiefs’ Haley and Pioli
|
About 3 p.m. on Sunday, as I drove past a gloomy Arrowhead Stadium with a few thousand of my fellow Kansas City Chiefs fans, heading towards home, it took all my ”glass half full” personality to come up with anything positive about the 44-13 Bronco beat-down that just took place.
Other than 1) Tamba Hali had a great game; and 2) Dustin Colquitt and Ryan Succop are the team MVPs, I couldn’t find anything.
What really struck me was that the Denver Broncos had
a bad defense last year. Really bad. In some categories, they were
worse than the Chiefs. And yet, this year after hiring a new defensive
coordinator and switching to a 3-4 defensive scheme (sound familiar?);
they are a top-10 defense. continue reading...

Chiefs not progressing
|
|
Matt Cassel will be right back under center when the reeling Kansas
City Chiefs host Buffalo on Sunday. But what effect will getting
benched during a blowout loss to Denver have on the young quarterback?
A positive one, coach Todd Haley insists. Haley also said Monday
he's not worried that the leadership he counts on Cassel to provide
will be affected by teammates seeing him jerked out of the game.
"No, not in my opinion," Haley said. "Others may have different
opinions, but not in my opinion. I think that's a head coach's decision
to make, of where the game's at and circumstances surrounding it.
Yesterday at that time I thought the best thing for us as a team was to
put Brodie in the game and let him play a little bit." continue reading...

PFT: Cassel won't lose starting job
|
Matt Cassel got the hook on Sunday, but he's still Kansas City's starting quarterback.
Chiefs coach Todd Haley confirmed that Cassel will start next week's game against Buffalo; Brodie Croyle finished out Kansas City's dismal 44-13 loss to the Broncos.
"To me, the game was at a point where it was going to be very difficult for us to even get in the game
and it was a chance to get Brodie some snaps," Haley said. continue reading...

Club where Larry Johnson (allegedly) spat on woman gets sued
|
Here's an interesting post-script to one of the various off-field incidents involving former Chiefs running back Larry Johnson.
Last year, he allegedly spat on and threatened to kill a woman at a Kansas City club.
Johnson faced criminal charges for the incident, and he has been sued by the woman in civil court.
Now, the woman is suing the bar where the incident happened.
Per
TMZ.com, Ashley Stewart claims that Blonde Nightclub knew or should
have known that Johnson intended to raise a ruckus on the evening in
question. She alleges that a caller warned the club that Johnson was
on his way, that he'd been drinking, and that he'd been causing trouble. continue reading...
